WHAT ARE THE AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF REBUILDING SRI LANKA?
Rebuilding Sri Lanka will continue to raise funds and use them to sustain the projects that we have initiated since the tsunami. Our main focus will be in the following areas: Magalakanda, Uragasmanhandiya, Kalmunai, Ambalangoda and Hambantota.
The aims and guiding principles of Rebuilding Sri Lanka:
- To be committed to fundraising in the medium and long term
- To invest in long term sustainable projects
- To invest in the children by providing first class educational facilities & resources
- To maintain high standards in all our work
- To ensure that no projects suffer neglect or mismanagement, therefore protecting the original objectives and investment of our donors.
- To ensure that all funds raised and investments are rigorously accounted for and documented
- To use funds in a way that is not divisive. We recognise that the effect of the tsunami extends well beyond those who suffered physical damage.
- To utilize donor funds and volunteer expertise as effectively, rapidly and practically as possible.
- To highlight on the ground where donor funds have been invested, but to be sensitive and not intrusive in how we approach this.
- “To give without taking the dignity of the beneficiary”.
- To continue maintaining mutually beneficially relationships with other NGOs
- To provide active feedback to our donors.
